Jagger's Birth Story - part 1

On Monday, September 24th, I went to my weekly check up. I was 36 weeks 3 days.
I was anxious to find out if I was dilated at all.. I figured if I was, it wouldn't be more than a 1...
But when she checked me, we were both surprised to find that I was dilated to 2+ and the baby was super low. I, of course, was thrilled to hear that! I thought maybe my hopes of him coming at 37 weeks might actually happen! My doctor thought I would probably have him the next week. Definitely wouldn't go all the way to 40, but she didn't think it would be happening in the next couple of days... Marcus and I kept saying that we should probably pack the diaper bag but we were in no hurry since we weren't expecting anything for at least another week or longer. My mom and I went on a walk later on that day, all I could think about was how much I tried to make myself go into labor with Jentri and NADA damn thing happened! My mom kept asking if the walk made me feel any different, and the answer was no. It felt great to get fresh air, but that was about it. :)
Marcus came home from work and we decided to watch a movie. We put Jentri in bed and cuddled up on the couch. A short while later, I told him I was having light contractions but nothing to think much of. It wasn't any different than all of the other nights that I felt "light contractions". It was about 9pm when I decided to start looking at the clock... I didn't want to get my hopes up but I thought maybe they were getting stronger and closer...
Marcus didn't think much of it at all...
Pretty sure he thought I was just making this up in my head because I was so miserably pregnant. Haha.
But sure as heck, my contractions were STRONG and coming about every 2-3 minutes for 1 minute.
After texting my bestie about it, I decided to call labor and delivery and ask them if I should come in. I didn't really know what to do. I was worried that since it was my third child if I didn't go soon enough, I would be delivering on the freeway!! Every mother's dream. At the same time, I didn't know if I was actually in labor and we all know the disappointment of getting sent home from L&D.
At this point, Marcus was a little agitated. (I think!) He kept saying "should I go to sleep or not?" He did have work in a few hours... I told him to go ahead and go to sleep but after an hour or so of constant contractions, I finally convinced myself that I was likely in labor and needed to get my bags together. I woke Marcus up and told him to call his Mom to let her know we were dropping Jentri off. Half of me kept thinking what a fool I am for thinking I was actually in labor and the other half was like um get your booty movin' girl.
By 1:00am we were finally on our way to the hospital. It was rainy and cold! I was just happy to have my honey by my side. I am not quite sure what he was thinking when I repeatedly said "Oh they had better admit me. I KNOW I am in labor. I am NOT going home in this kind of pain!" Haha.
We got to the hospital and got set up in one of the little evaluating rooms. The nurse checked me and I was a 3. She said they would monitor me for an hour, if I wasn't dilated to a 5 they would probably send me home. *insert tired, slightly irritated momma* She was out of her mind thinking I was going home. ;) I told Marcus that if she sent me home, we were going to Wal Mart to walk around because I was NOT driving an hour to go home just to come back shortly after.
But sure enough, I had progressed a ton! I was well over a 5 when she came back to check.
We were SO excited to hear that we wouldn't be leaving without our new baby boy!

...to be continued. :)
