Here are some stats that I found..
■28 percent of children now live with just one parent
■One in four children are born to an unwed mother
■40% of children under 18 experience a parental breakup.
■90% of single parent families are headed by females.
■Single moms with children have the highest poverty rates
■60% of children living in mother-only families are impoverished
■Single moms are more likely to be poor because of lower earning capacity
■Single mom’s median income is only about 25% what a married couple make
Can you believe that?
As sad as it is, it's easy to believe for me.
I struggle so much. And yeah, some of my choices are the reason why. But I wouldn't have to be so careful with my choices if I wasn't a one woman show over here.
It's not something little girls dream of- to raise kids on her own. To be the maid, cook, chauffer, owwie-kisser, fixer, bill payer, and everything in between. But that's my life. And even though it is SO hard, I really do love it. It's comforting, and rewarding, when I accomplish so much by myself. I have so much to learn, and so much to appreciate from what I have learned thus far.
I'm not going to be one of the single Mom's that only have an income of 25% of what a married couple makes. I'm not going to be poor forever. :)
I've finally decided what I'm going to do and I couldn't be more excited. It's going to be a LONG road(and a tough one at that!) but it will be so worth it in the end. A little bit of financial inspiration from my bestie boo,, and I actually feel like the start to my goal is realistic within the next year. (By tax time, hopefully!) I know when the time comes and I actually make the big MOVE towards what I'm doing, people are going to be like WTF is she doing... but I know what I'm doing, and I've gotten the one and only opinion that I need... hehe... and I know it will all work out! Guess I'll be back in 5-6 months to let you know how it's going. ;) Just kidding- I'm sure there will be lots more information within the next month! Wooooo!
